AQA GCSE French is a modern foreign language qualification for students in Years 10 and 11. It develops reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills across everyday and academic themes, leading to a nationally recognised grade.
The qualification is graded on a 9 to 1 scale, where 9 is the highest. Assessment covers four equal components: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The speaking paper is conducted as a separate controlled assessment with the student's school.
Written examinations sit in the May and June series at the end of Year 11. The speaking component is conducted by the school earlier in the exam period. Most students begin focused preparation in Year 10 to build vocabulary and grammatical accuracy.

AQA GCSE French is a General Certificate of Secondary Education in French, set by the AQA exam board. It is designed for students aged 14 to 16 in England and is one of the most popular modern language qualifications at this level.
Assessment is split equally across four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Each component carries 25 percent of the total grade. The qualification is graded 9 to 1, with 9 the highest. Results are awarded in the summer exam series.
