Mariam Sturgess

Mariam Sturgess has taught physics for 13 years, most of it in schools that expect a great deal of their science departments. She has led one as Head of Physics and worked as a subject lead, so she has written schemes of work as well as delivered them, and she knows how a specification should be sequenced across two years.

Cambridge inducted her as a certified physics trainer, which meant close study of how the papers are set and marked, and that knowledge goes straight to her students. Her own qualifications run from a Master's in Physics to teaching degrees at both bachelor's and master's level. Across 20,000 hours and more than 100 batches she has built a reputation for structure: clear explanation, steady progression, and no surprises in the examination hall.

Mariam holds an MSc in Physics and a BSc in Double Mathematics and Physics, together with M.Ed and B.Ed degrees, and is a Cambridge University certified physics trainer with a University of Michigan certification in equity, diversity and inclusion.
