Maryam Saleem

Maryam Saleem came to teaching from the laboratory. Her research at the National Centre for Physics covered sustainable energy solutions and lithium-ion batteries, and that work still shows in her lessons: she explains reactions and processes as things somebody measured, not as facts that arrived on a page.

She has taught international curricula for 4+ years, largely to students who find the sciences abstract, and her method is to make the abstract concrete with a diagram, a worked example or a familiar object. She served as departmental ambassador for the Science Society and holds volunteer leadership certificates, and she runs her tutoring the same way: organised, consistent, and quick enough with feedback for it to still be useful. She has taught 8,000+ hours to date.

Maryam Saleem holds a strong academic record in Chemistry alongside research experience at the National Centre for Physics, where she worked on sustainable energy solutions and lithium-ion batteries.
