About the tutor

Ubaid Shaikh is a Cambridge and IB educator with over 15 years of teaching and curriculum development behind him. He holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and a Bachelor in Education, and has served as Head of Department for Social Sciences.

He has contributed to Cambridge curriculum development in History and Geography, with his proposed changes officially endorsed. His IBDP students consistently achieve 7s, and he has taught over 20,000 hours across Cambridge and IB curricula. He has also worked as a specialist English Language instructor under a USAID-funded education programme. His mentoring and oratory are a large part of why students who begin quiet on analysis end up arguing a case well.

Teaching style

Ubaid teaches interactively and to the exam, combining deep subject knowledge with the analytical training the Humanities papers reward.

  • Critical thinking as the core skill

Subject knowledge is delivered through methods that build analysis, because that is what the mark schemes credit.

  • Conceptual clarity in real context

Topics are grounded in real-world context, so students both pass the paper and understand the subject.

  • Source analysis and essay technique

Focused training on handling sources, structuring essays and writing extended responses under time pressure.

  • Cambridge and IB alignment

Assessment requirements for both systems are built into the teaching rather than bolted on at revision.

  • Mentoring and confidence

A motivating environment that builds the intellectual confidence the extended essay and IA demand.
